Kyriaki Papageorgiou (ESADE) from SCALINGS project will be at 5th Global Research Conference: Social Innovation and Socio-Digital Transformation – Towards a Comprehensive Innovation Policy, hosted by by ESSI, TU Dortmund University (Social Research Centre) and DASA Working World Exhibition. Kyriaki will discuss key insights on co-creation with Alessandro Deserti (Politecnico di Milano) from SISCODE project and André Martinuzzi (Institute for Managing Sustainability, WU Vienna) from LIV.IN project. The session will be chaired by Francesca Rizzo (Politecnico di Milano) and Christoph Kaletka (TU Dortmund University).

Session description:

Co-creation describes innovation processes in which different actors work together towards an outcome from which everybody benefits. Taking into account the variety of understandings in various disciplines, it addresses non-linear processes that involve multiple actors and stakeholders in different phases of the innovation process, such as ideation, implementation and assessment of technologies, services, or policies. Co-creation can involve participants from different societal sectors (enterprises, researchers, policy-makers, civil society), disciplinary backgrounds, or departments of a company.

The session will discuss latest research findings on co-creation in different domains such as policy-making (SISCODE), smart home and smart health (LIV:IN), as well as in robotics, urban energy and autonomous driving (SCALINGS). The presenters will reflect upon what can make co-creation successful, which roles users can or should play throughout the process, and introduce different examples. On this basis, session participants will discuss favourable conditions that support the introduction and scalability of co-creation.
